The Overture Center has a long history in Madison and has gone through some renovations. They offer concerts, ballets, theatre, symphonies, and other performing arts. The ticket office is open from 11:00 - 5:30 M-F; and 11:00 - 2:00 on Saturdays. The information desk in the Overture Center is a great place to get information about all of Madison. Wisconsin is widely regarded as one of the great college campuses in America. Covering 933 acres between Lake Mendota and Monona, U.W. consists of brick and limestone buildings, museums, technology centers, and the famed Wisconsin Union Terrace. Guided tours of the Madison campus are offered Monday-Friday at 3:00 p.m., and weekends at noon.
The Henry Vilas Zoo in Madison began as a family enterprise in 1911. The Vilas family donated the land with a stipulation that the zoo always remain admission-free. It's a condition that has been honored to this day - even the parking is free! The zoo is open year-round from 9:30 - 5:00 each day. Children's parties can be arranged for ahead of time, and there is a Children's Zoo on the property.
This entertainment center is owned and operated by the Ho-Chunk Nation, one of the largest remaining indigenous Nations in America. They offer bingo, slot machines, and entertainment. DeJope is open from 9:00am - 12:00am Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday; 9:00am - 11:00pm Tuesdays, and 9:00am-2:00am on Friday and Saturday nights.
