Whitetail deer are plentiful in the Perham area and challenge hunters who have a taste for wild game. Ducks and geese populate our lakes and marshes while ruffed grouse and other small game roam the countryside. (0.8 miles) City Hall Park

It is used every Wednesday June thru August for the Perham International Turtle Races. It also contains a large tree, grassy area, flowers and benches to make a good resting spot for vacationers and shoppers.

The park has a large turtle with a slide & a lion drinking fountain for young children. The park also has a large central fountain, picnic tables and benches to enjoy shade trees and flowerbeds.

(0.8 miles) History Museum of East Otter Tail

Built originally as an Episcopal church, this historic building now contains displays and exhibits about the people and places of East Otter Tail County. At the History Museum, the past comes alive with early motion pictures, photographic essays and interpretive exhibits. Discover stories about the first settlers, the arrival of the railroad, forgotten towns, early tourism and much more.

It is a large grassy block that contains plenty of play area, playground, a picnic area and flower gardens.

Facilities include sand volleyball courts, tennis courts, bike & walking paths, soccer fields, *NEW* Frisbee Golf Course, Kowabunga Skateboard and Biking ramps.

Named after the former mayor of Perham. Park has a playground, picnic area, public restrooms & changing area, swimming beach with dock and boat ramp. There is also a large covered public shelter with electricity for family gatherings. The shelter may be reserved from the City for a small fee. 218.346.4455

All Aboard for the Perham Trolley!
Perham is the namesake of Joseph Perham, the first man with the idea of building a railroad from Lake Superior to the Pacific coast. In 1871 that dream became reality when the Northern Pacific railway came to Perham. This was the first railroad to enter Ottertail County. In the beginning the railway was used to ship lumber and later wheat.

The Perham Trolley represents the Perham area and its beginnings as a railroad town. You can ride the Perham Trolley each Wednesday from Memorial Day to Labor Day from 10 am to noon. The Trolley departs from its depot outside the Perham Area Chamber approximately every 20 minutes. Rides are only $2. All aboard!

Perham's ice skating facility is located south of the Perham Area Community Center by the High School Football Field. A warming house is available with an attendant during posted open hours. The ice rink is usually open by late December.

Sledding Hill-The community sledding hill is located 1.5 miles south of Perham on the east side of State Highway 78. The area is open November 1 to May 1 for sledding with small sleds.

(2.8 miles) Inspiration Peak

Located West of Urbank on Route 38 between State Hwy 78 & 235th Street. In the southern part of Otter Tail County is a collection of glacial features known as the Leaf Hills. The highest among them is Inspiration Peak, just west of Urbank. It rises 1,750 feet, about 400 feet above the surrounding countryside Making it the highest point in the county and one of the highest points in the state of Minnesota. The quarter-mile hike to the top can be a workout and there are several benches along the way if you wish to rest. The view from the top is particularly impressive in autumn when the hardwoods are ablaze but, this wayside rest area offers a captivating view almost any time of the year. A large paved lot provides plenty of room for parking, and there's a wooded park with picnic tables and restrooms. Inspiration Peak is a State Wayside Park and is managed by Lake Carlos State Park, situated 15 miles to the southeast, on the shore of the park's namesake

a premier birding area in Minnesota. You will find over 1,000 lakes along the byway and the sheer variety of lakes, rivers, forest and wetlands along the Byway corridor is exciting.
Seasonal beauty adds a different dimension and variety to the character of the land, especially in fall and winter. The Byway is home to the Chippewa national forest,-the Mississippi River Headwaters, Tamarac national wildlife refuge and six serene state forests to experience.

(25.2 miles) Glendalough State Park

Located south of Perham on Hwy 78 and Cty Rd 16 -Glendalough is home to abundant populations of white-tailed deer, raccoon, red fox, and smaller mammals. The park also offers excellent bird watching for a variety of species of prairie, wetland, and hardwood forest birds. An active eagle nest and fresh beaver cuttings can be viewed from the park trails, and loons are common on the park's lakes. Wildlife observation blinds have been constructed and binoculars and birding kits are available for loan at the park.

(28.2 miles) Maplewood State Park

The Park is entrance is located 7 miles east of Pelican Rapids on State Hwy 108. .Amid the farmlands that surround the park, Maplewood sits on a series of high tree-covered hills that provide visitors with striking vistas of small, clear lakes nestled in deep valleys. The park is located in a transition area between the western prairies and the eastern forests and contains plants and animals found in both landscapes. A Minnesota state park permit is required for each vehicle. You can buy them upon entry.
